Casulana
Gran Miracol D’Amore
Maddalena Casulana was an Italian composer and musician of the Renaissance period. She was one of the first known female composers of secular music and her compositions were published in 1568 in the first collection of music by a woman.
She was active in Florence, Italy in the 16th century. Casulana's music is characterized by its simplicity and elegance, and she wrote mainly for the lute and the harpsichord. She is considered an important figure in the history of women in music.
